    Very good

Located right next to Athens City Market, and near Psiri, the location was very convenient. Only 7 minutes from Monastiraki.

The beds are mediocre at best, fairly cheap mattresses, but comfortable enough I suppose. The hotel was also not totally soundproof, we could hear yelling outside at various times.

    Just the location, nothing else.

We had booked 1 quadrupleroom and we get 2 very small single rooms and because of that we didn´t to stay 2 nights, that was the first plan. The woman who own the hotel was very unpleasant, she blaimed the datorsystem, it was not her fault that everything had failed, nothing was her fault and she yelled and was very angry when we decided to stay only one night. Very awkward situation!

    Very good

Managers attitude, clean, close to center, value for money. For someone who needs a place just to organize and sleep at night it was a good choice.

Since I marked value for money excellent i do not expect a 5 star hotel facilities. So what i got was well enough.

Cleanliness. The hotel is within a walking distance from the places of interest. The hotel's stuff is very helpfull.

    The bathroom is really uncomfortable.

    Exceptional

The hotel staff are wonderful. They made me feel like home.

The front room(s) was noisy because of the traffic.

    Superb

The fantastic staff member who welcomed us after an overnight ferry and little sleep, allowing our early check in. He was also a great help with maps and other travel advice.

It's the worst hotel I have stayed in Greece for 2 weeks. Smoke in the room because of bad door, noice at night, window view to the wall. It's more like a hostel then a hotel. The price is maybe good only for backpackers without car. If you have a car you have to pay for a parking because of very criminal district. And there is no breakfast in the price. Then, 37 Euro+10 for parking + 10 for breakfast for two=57 euro! We found next night a much better hotel for 54.

    Very good

Athinaikon is a great budget hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are small, but very clean. The staff, an older Greek couple, are very friendly and helpful. Don't hesitate to call upon them when a cab driver dropping you off at the hotel is asking you for unreasonable prices (!! beware of Athenian cab drivers in general: our guy handily switched the 50€ bill I gave him with a 10€ bill while actually making me believe I only gave him a 10. Don't be as naïve as we were !!). The neighbourhood isn't even half as bad as others have described it here. Athinaikon is conveniently located between two Metro stops (Omonia and Monastiraki) and within walking distance of the main tourist attractions. At night, the streets around the hotel may look a bit dodgy, and we did encounter some (harmless) prostitutes, but during the day they're filled with people and shops, and just by crossing the road and walking down Aghiou Dimitriou you'll end up in one of Athens' coolest neighbourhoods, Psirri, crowded with great bars and restaurants. Our room was on the backside of the building and thus a bit dark, but pretty quiet too.

The bed was a bit hard, but that didn't keep me from sleeping very well. If you want breakfast you have to go to a nearby hotel or grab something on the street.

Very central. Close to akropolis, andrea street, cheap with taxi to central places. İ never used metro or bus, its max15-20 to everywhere.

I had to wait 40 min for cold water to become warm, then I had to take shower with cold water. 1 person room was very small and dark, but thats it for the price. And a bit slow connection of internet in the room.

Good location - near from Akropol

    Good

Good value for money. The hotel is really basic: a bed and a private bathroom. But it was clean and the location is central (no drugs, no protitutes and it is near monasteraki square, bus and metro). The manager gives good advice about the city. We were provided with iron and were alowed to drop the bags.

You can not expect nothing beyond the basic. Its an old hotel, family maneged, without breakfast included. The shower is the all toilet, but this is the greek style.

The staff is polite and helpful but not friendly. The room and the toilet were clean but extremely small.

It is a centric hotel in a supposedly safe neighbourhood near Monastiraki subway station (5-minut walk) but the surroundings were dirty and scary. Even the hotel is quite scary too! The hall, the corridors and the staircase are too dark and narrow and there is no lift. The room and the bathroom were clean but extremelly small (believe me: too small). The ac smelled like pee and it faced the door so it had no cooling effect at all. An alarm clock rang for more than an hour.. An angry client trying to tear my door off while shouting "alarm off"... Me shouting back that it wasn't me... Noisy drunk clients giggling arriving at 2am... A nightmare. Only for scareless backpackers who won't care for a noisy, smelly, hot room in hell.

    Very good

We had a great stay at this hotel, which is close to the metro/bus station, restaurants and within walking distance of Plaka and the Akropolis. The personnel is absolutely friendly and willing to help you find your way.

The hotel as different room sizes from really small (too small for 2) to reasonable and big enough. If you don't want too much noise, ask for a room at the back side. Otherwise you might hear heavy traffic all night long.
